History

Georgia Copeland, also known as "Georgie" by her  family and friends, began her professional dancing career at the age of eight. At 17 she was chosen as an MGM Starlet, making many movie musicals. She went on to work with 20th Century Fox and also as a "Goldwyn" and "Ziegfeld" girl. She worked with such stars as Fred Astaire, Lucille Ball, Buddy Ebsen and Esther Williams.

Georgia married Jack Copeland and opened her first dance studio in Escondido. Through her instruction, she personally produced over 40 professional dancers. She was known for her beautiful smile, great legs and enormous heart. She impacted the lives of so many.

In 1998 Sue Gilson assumed the operation of the studio. Sue worked with Georgia for more than 25 years and has continued her legacy of providing excellent dance technique and opportunities to dancers in North San Diego County.
